This Morning viewers were up in arms over a chef’s controversial mince pie and cheese recipe.
Chef Juliet Sear appeared on This Morning to share a number of recipes that would be good to freeze ahead of its year’s festivities, with one of them being this interesting concoction.
After serving up the savoury treats, Josie said: “We spoke earlier, and you said about adding cheese?!
“You can have anything with it.
“Prepare to be blown away. I make a cheese sandwich for this, so with a nice clonk of Lancashire cheese… because [the filling] is like a chutney,” she said as she cut a mince pie in half and placed a couple of slices of cheese in the middle.
She then put the pie back together and took a bite.
Hosts Josie Gibsonboth and Phillip Schofield both had a taste and, bizarrely, they were on board.
“Never would I have thought adding cheese to a mince pie – it has opened a whole new world for me,” Josie said.
Phil agreed: “I tell you what, that cheese is really lovely – there has been a revelation here today!”
But viewers at home weren’t so sure as they took to Twitter to comment on the interesting combination.
One person said: “Mince pies should be eaten with….other mince pies, Definitely not cheese!”
Another wrote: “It just gets worse. Cheese in a mince pie!”
While someone else put: “#ThisMorning Although @JulietSear_ is correct that Lancashire is the king of cheeses, please don’t go putting a lump of cheese and some clotted cream in a mince pie. That’s not right. No wonder Holly called in sick.”
Josie stepped in for Holly Willoughby for the second day in a row after the presenter revealed she was ill with a stomach bug.
Holly thanked the newest This morning host for ‘saving the day’ on her Instagram, where she wrote: “Thank you @josiegibson85 for saving the day yesterday… you are a dream! I’ll be back as soon as I’m in no threat of vomiting on @schofe.”
